D.J. Kennington, driver of the No. 81 Red Bank Outfitters Dodge, qualified 25th for the Stater Bros. 300 at Auto Club Speedway with a lap of 41.396 seconds at 173.930 mph on the 2-mile oval.
“The No. 81 Red Bank Outfitters Dodge was pretty good during qualifying,” said Kennington, who grabbed his career-best NASCAR Nationwide Series finish of 17th last weekend at Daytona International Raceway. “This is a new car for us and my guys worked really hard to get it ready for this weekend. I was just a little loose but overall pretty satisfied.”
Carl Edwards captured his 12th NASCAR Nationwide Series pole and his second at Fontana with a time of 40.068 with a time of seconds at 179.695 mph. The 21-time NASCAR Nationwide Series winner Kyle Busch will start alongside Edwards on the outside of row one, as he timed in at 40.255 seconds at 178.860 mph. Michael McDowell (40.423 seconds at 178.116 mph) was third, while Mike Bliss (40.468 seconds at 177.918 mph) and Greg Biffle (40.569 seconds at 177.475 mph) rounded out the top-five.
The Stater Bros. 300 gets underway at 7:30 pm. EST on Sat., Feb. 21 with live coverage provided by ESPN2 beginning with its pre-race show at 7 p.m.
